Summer Term

Hi All,

Year 4 wanted to share with you what we will be learning over the summer term as we are all very excited!

Our topic question for the term is ‘What would it be like to be a child living in Rio?’

Curriculum Overview for parents

Making Boats that Float!

Before the Easter Break class 4L tested materials in D&T for our boat. We found which materials worked well and gathered recyclable materials to make our boats. Here is our process… we used our collaboration skills to work well together!

Here are our finished products, we even tested them to see if our boats floated!

Reds Go Green

Over the past few weeks some children in Year 4 have been working alongside Hull KR to design and create an ECO friendly new Stand for the stadium.

They worked in 3 groups and had to design their own stadium. They worked very hard to design their stand thinking about everything they needed to include: entrances, disabled access, stands, seats, etc. They even thought about wind turbines to make it Eco friendly. They created the new stand they had to design out of LEGO!

Mr Hardcastle from Hull KR came in to judge the stands and pick a final winner. This team would build the whole stadium out of recyclable materials. He chose the winner but he also added that because it was a really tough decision and he could tell all the children had worked hard in each team he would let the other teams help the winning team!

We are looking forward to building the KR stadium from scratch out of recyclable materials 🙂

We are Particles!

Our new topic for the term is World of Water. As part of science we have looked at solids, liquids and gases. Here 4L have re created how the different particles move using themselves!

Here we are a solid… ICE!

Now we are liquid… WATER!

And now a gas… AIR!

Science – Tooth Decay!!

We have been looking at Healthy Eating in our science lessons and last week we carried out a science investigation looking at what liquids are good for our teeth. We found that Milk and water were best for our teeth and fruit juice seemed the worst… you will be able to see from the photo’s! Class 4L really enjoyed the investigation and some even did their own test at home.SAM_6018SAM_6019SAM_6020SAM_6021SAM_6022SAM_6022SAM_6023 SAM_6024 SAM_6025 SAM_6026SAM_6027 SAM_6028 SAM_6029SAM_6030 SAM_6031 SAM_6032SAM_6032 SAM_6033 SAM_6034 SAM_6035 SAM_6036SAM_6037
